Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the Report take to prepare?

Once we have confirmation to proceed, Reports are usually prepared within 6 to 12 weeks. If a Report is needed urgently we will endeavour to have it prepared sooner than this.

What is the cost of obtaining a Report?

Once we receive all the documentation we will provide you with a quotation for the price of the Report. This will normally be in the £1,500 – £9,000 ex. VAT range (dependent on volume of documentation and complexity of the case).

If you decide to go ahead with the Report we will have it prepared and we will forward it to you on receipt of payment.

What if the client decides not to proceed with the Report?

If you decide not to go ahead with the Report after receiving the quotation we will return all the documentation to you and there is no charge.

Will the client need to be examined for the Report?

Most of our Experts do not normally need to see the Client in order to prepare a Report on the standard of care he/she has received. They can usually prepare their Report from the case notes and other documentation.

Where an examination is required, we will advise you at the time of providing an estimate for the cost of the Report and liaise with the Expert to make arrangements for an appointment.

If the case does progress and a further Report is needed on the Client’s current medical condition and/or prognosis for the future, then it is likely that the Client will need to see the Expert for an examination and we will make the necessary arrangements.

What will I need to send?

The most important documentation is the Client’s Medical Records. There may be X-rays and CT or MRI scans that related to the event in dispute which will also be required.

An account of events and/or an Attendance by the Client and/or the Client’s family will be of assistance to the Expert.

Clear instructions from the Solicitors/Barrister as to what you will require the Report to address are also very important.

Are MCNA on the DX?

Unfortunately, we are not. We recommend using a Registered/Special Delivery service or Courier to send documentation to us as these are usually the most secure.

Can I send a case by email?

We are happy to receive cases by email but as some of our Experts still prefer hard copy records, we may have to charge a small administration fee to print the records.

In the event that files are too large to send by email, we are able to acess secure and approved file hosting services to access uploaded records.

How quickly can I have an estimate for the cost of the Report?

Once we have received the documentation relating to the case, we will examine it in detail to ensure we have an understanding of the issue. Following your confirmation that the proposed Specialist is appropriate, we will forward the documentation to the Expert in order to get you an estimate. We are normally able to provide you with an estimate for the cost of the Report within 2 to 4 weeks of receiving the case.

Can I see a copy of the proposed Expert’s CV?

Once we are in a position to provide you with an estimate for the cost of the Report, we are happy to furnish you a copy of the Expert’s ‘Expert Witness Profile’.
